THE CONCEPT OF MOBILE SHELVING
TRADITIONAL SHELVING LAYOUT
Traditional static shelving makes use of a fixed amount of floor space – allowing for access aisles between the rows/bays of shelving. This system is fairly basic and only allows for a set amount of items to be stored on it. Access aisles are basically dead floor space and a static shelving system only operates in a set square footage – it is not able to expand as your stock inventory grows. This lack of storage expansion often leads to overcrowded shelves, incorrect storage of goods and potentially health and safety issues for staff using the shelving.

By simply mounting shelving bays onto a mobile base you already negate the need for the majority of access aisles – making use of the previous dead storage space that was needed to access shelves. By mobilising bays of shelving you free up the floor space it would have traditionally sat on. Mobile Storage or Racking systems can free up to 50% of your storage floor space allowing you to use this freed up space for either additional storage or perhaps a works / packing area right where it’s needed most.

Once you have mobilised your shelving system you can increase the overall storage capacity of your shelving system by simply adding more bays of shelving – as your storage needs grow, so does your shelving. These framework agreements aid the end user in the procurement of goods (in this case mobile shelving, shelving and storage equipment) as all necessary quality, environmental and cost comparisons have already been done by the leading organisation running the framework agreement.
